Art Gallery
The art gallery apartment is a well-kept secret on the 1st floor of a beautifully renovated building of the early 20th century. You will have a unique experience staying here. It is a spacious 7-room apartment, with a comfortable bedroom; the bathroom is very bright with a large window and bathtub; the kitchen is fully equipped. Enjoy the terrace for breakfast or evening drinks or simply to read a book or doze off. There is no living room or TV, but plenty of artwork in every room, worth being admired.
The gallery hosts international and national contemporary artists as well as emerging artists, using all kinds of different media: painting, photography, video and sculpture. It is opened to the public from 3 to 8 PM, you are welcome to mingle with visitors and invited to the opening if you are lucky enough to be lodged here at the time. The curator will be in the premises while the gallery is opened to the public and she will help you plan your day, filling you in on what is happening in Lisbon, pointing you in the direction of other galleries or the best way to get around the city.
It is not an apartment suited for children.

View of Campo de Ourique in Lisbon, Portugal

Campo de Ourique

A very tipical portuguese neighborhood.

Across from Basílica da Estrela is this delightful neighborhood park, one of the loveliest in the city and a favorite with families.

There are exotic plants and trees, a small duck-dotted lake, various sculptures, a children's playground, and an attractive wrought-iron gazebo that serves as an old-fashioned bandstand.
The pond-side café is a good place for a break.

Beyond the park is the English Cemetery, founded in 1717 and originally shared with the Dutch community. Novelist Henry Fielding, author of Tom Jones, died during a visit to Lisbon and is buried here. If you're curious, ring a bell to be let in.

At Campo de Ourique it is said that almost everyone knows each other, while living in the centre of the Portuguese capital. It remains very close to the classic nightlife spots of Lisbon (Bairro Alto, Santos and Alcântara), and the beaches that surround Lisbon. The famous No. 28 tram leaves from this district (Prazeres) and we are + / - 30 minutes from the beaches of Cascais/Guincho or Caparica by highway.

The area is known for its good restaurants and breweries (cervejarias) very friendly, from popular to trendy, offering in all cases a good traditional Portuguese cuisine.

Campo de Ourique is the district with the largest number of cafes / terraces per square metre in Lisbon, his life revolves around the “Jardim da Parada”, a place in the heart of neighbourhood.

Many people related to arts, letters and media have elected residence in this neighbourhood. The most famous is undoubtedly Fernando Pessoa, "the poet of poets” of the twentieth century, who lived here the latter part of his life, his house was turned into a museum.

Easily accessible by public transport: tram No. 28 (Prazeres, Estrela, São Bento, Bairro Alto, Chiado, Baixa, Castelo de São Jorge, Graça Feira da Ladra), No. 25 (from the nearby basilic and the beautiful “Jardim da Estrela” to Santos) bus No. 709, Rossio, Downtown area (Baixa) and Terreiro do Paço, just by the river and the No. 758 bus running through the city, leaving Cais do Sodré, passing through the Bairro Alto, Principe Real, stopping at the Amoreiras Shopping Center near Campo de Ourique with its cinemas, supermarkets and direct access to the highway from Cascais and Caparica (+ / - 30 minutes to the beaches by highway and by public transport).

Note that a central taxi is 2 minutes far from the apartment, which is practical as it is  is the main mean of transportation in the evening, remaining quite cheap (5 / 10 € per ride to go anywhere in Lisbon).
