Casa de MagosThe house dates from 1891, but according to village lore the foundations were laid at some point in the XVIIth century. It used to be an inn, a tavern and a grocery. It was redone whilst carefully preserving all that is ancient and leaving its soul intact. The house is situated in the historical center of Salvaterra de Magos in a quiet district, with houses as ancient as their inhabitants; There is the local tavern, the pharmacy, the saloon where you can play some pool and enjoy some tapas and Dona Elvira's grocery. There are some old warehouses, which used to belong to the grand old agricultural enterprises and various little palaces. It is quiet. One can enjoy boat trips down or up river; a jeep with a driver for rides around countryside; horse back riding; monument visiting; wine tasting. It accommodates up to 4 people Cleaning service every 3 days Animals are welcome. After having passed the exit "Vila Franca", you leave the motorway at the exit for the A10, "Benavente" and "Algarve", you traverse the bridge over the Tagus and the plains and you get off at the exit which indicates "Benavente". travel through Benavente always following the road, and the next little town is salvaterra de Magos.
Arriving at a roundabout with a bullring, you turn left where it says "center" and "Escaroupim". You go straight down the road until you find on your left a medical center called "Regimagos" and an old school. Salvaterra de MagosSalvaterra de Magos is situated in the Ribatejo region, 50 Kilometers (30 miles) about 35 minutes by car from Lisbon. It is by the banks of the river Tagus which has a fascinating countryside. There are islets with horses, herons instead of seagulls, villages and fishing boats in bright colors, marshes and plains and moors with cork trees. One can enjoy a glass of wine by a lagoon, eat cakes in a local patisserie, see wild bulls, visit the Royal Falconry and visit chapels from the XVIth century. Sometimes there are festivals and funfairs, fado, bull runs and banquets.
